Payment and Insurance

How do I pay for my sessions?

Payment will be collected at the beginning of each session. Payment is accepted via cash,* check,* Venmo, and credit card (American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Discover).

* Please note, because all services are currently provided via telehealth, only Credit Card or Venmo will be accepted as payment at this time.

Insurance

I do not currently accept insurance as a form of payment. However, I am an out-of-network provider. Individual health plans vary. If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, you may be able to receive reimbursement from them to cover part or all of your therapy services.

How do I know if I have out-of-network coverage?

Benefits for each insurance plan are different. If you plan to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, you should clarify several questions in advance:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental/behavioral health?
  • How much will I be reimbursed for a session with a psychologist in Baltimore City using the 90834 service code?
  • Are there certain services that are not covered, and for which I will not be reimbursed (e.g., are certain treatment codes excluded or limited under my plan)?
  • Are telehealth services covered the same way in-person services are covered?
  • Do I have to meet a deductible before I am eligible for out-of-network benefits? Is this deductible waived for mental/behavioral health services?
  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions for which I will be reimbursed, and/or do I need to obtain an authorization prior to seeking treatment?
  • What documentation do I need to submit to receive reimbursement?

Once you have the answers to these questions, I will provide you with a "superbill"  which you can submit to your insurance company weekly or monthly to request reimbursement.

Can I afford therapy?

For many people, the cost of therapy can be a barrier to getting the mental health care they want and deserve. Because Mindful Living Baltimore uses evidence based therapies that have been shown to work - and keep working even after therapy is discontinued - you may find that you feel better more quickly and have longer-lasting improvements than you would with other therapy approaches. Although it involves an investment in your well-being, choosing evidence based therapy options means you will likely need fewer sessions overall to achieve meaningful change.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care at Mindful Living Baltimore will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items and services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

Our office is also available to answer your questions and field requests as they pertain to Good Faith Estimates and insurance more generally.
